Maimuna Darboe

Maimuna is growing up in a family that has experienced the loss of a parent and now faces ongoing financial challenges. Maimuna lives with her mother in a small rented house, which consists of just a single room and a parlour. Despite the modest space, her mother works hard to make it a home. Her only source of income comes from gardening u2014 she grows tomatoes and onions in a small plot behind their house, and whatever she harvests, she resells in the neighbourhood to raise a little money for their survival. Life is not easy. Every penny counts, and the uncertainty of each day is a constant concern. She constantly worries about how she will pay for her children’s education, how she will afford the monthly house rent, and most of all, how she can give Maimuna a stable future. She eams of a future where Maimuna does not have to struggle the way she has u2014 a future where her education opens doors she never could. Still, she wakes up every morning with hope, tending to her garden, believing that her small efforts today will lead to a better tomorrow for her daughter.
