Description

Description

We are happy to share an exciting update from our ongoing mission to create sustainable living spaces for those in need. Following the success of our colorful village and the vibrant Widwas Village, we’ve taken on an inspiring new project: Hala’s Residential Village.

The story began with a heartfelt appeal from Hala, who lived in an isolated mountain area, dreaming of a safer and more secure home. Moved by her story, we decided not only to help Hala but to extend this opportunity to others in similar situations. Today, we’re proud to announce that we have successfully built a new village comprising 50 two-bedroom homes, each equipped with a kitchen and toilet, providing new beginnings for 50 families.

Our Vision Doesn’t Stop Here

Encouraged by the impact we’ve already made, our next ambitious goal is to double our efforts. We are planning to construct a new village with 100 homes. This expansion will include essential community facilities like a school and a mosque, fostering a nurturing environment where education and community spirit can flourish

We Need Your Help

To bring these projects to life, we rely on the generosity of donors like you. Your support can make a real difference in the lives of many families, offering them a chance at a brighter, more secure future. We invite you to donate generously and help us continue this journey of transformation and hope.

Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission. Together, we can build more than homes; we can build a community of hope and resilience.

When to Give Sadaqah

Sadaqah can be offered at any time and for any reason. Sadaqah can be given to commemorate or bring blessings to special occasions such as weddings, births, or other significant anniversaries. Muslims give Sadaqah as a sign of gratitude to Allah on these occasions (SWT). Sadaqah, on the other hand, can be given in times of sadness, illness, and bereavement, as well as on behalf of others, living or dead. What matters when giving Sadaqah is sincerity and seeking Allah’s pleasure, regardless of your motivation (SWT). Remember that giving Sadaqah does not deplete your assets. So give generously and fearlessly!

Description

The Aqiqah is a meaningful act of worship performed to celebrate the birth of a child in Islamic tradition. It involves the sacrifice of livestock and is considered an expression of gratitude to Allah for the blessing of a newborn. The Aqiqah is also a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), a cherished practice that carries both spiritual and communal significance.

You can participate in this beautiful tradition by donating an Aqiqah for a newborn boy or girl. The sacrifice helps provide meat to those in need, bringing joy to underprivileged families and communities.

Aqiqah (Boy) – £130 An Aqiqah for a boy involves the sacrifice of two sheep/goats.
Aqiqah (Girl) – £70 An Aqiqah for a girl involves the sacrifice of one sheep/goat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Confused about donating? Take a look at our frequently asked questions below.

Aqiqah for a boy and a girl? Traditionally, for a boy, two animals are sacrificed, whereas, for a girl, one animal is sacrificed. This practice is based on the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

As part of the Prophet Muhammad’s Sunnah, the Aqiqah is performed at the birth of a child (peace be upon him). It entails the slaughter of animals such as goats and sheep. It usually happens on the seventh day after a baby is born. However, there’s nothing stopping you from doing it later.
The sacrifice is then divided among the members of the family who are performing it. It is frequently distributed to the poor and needy.
Aisha (RA) narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “Slaughter two comparable sheep for a male newborn and one sheep for a female.” [Tirmidhi]

We have a responsibility at Global Helping Hands to be there for those who most need our help.
Millions of people struggle with poverty on a daily basis, with many going days or months without adequate food. Your gift could feed a family and provide them with the essential nutrients they require. They’d also be able to take part in the celebration of new life. This beloved Sunnah’s reward benefits a large number of people.

The cost of Aqiqah for a boy is £130, while the cost for a girl is £70. This covers the expenses of the livestock, slaughter, and distribution to those in need.

The meat from the Aqiqah is distributed to those in need, including underprivileged families and communities. This act of charity helps spread the joy of a newborn’s arrival to those less fortunate.

Aqiqah is ideally performed on the 7th day after the birth of the child. However, if it cannot be done on that day, it can be performed at a later date.

You can easily donate an Aqiqah through our program by choosing to sponsor the sacrifice for a boy or a girl. Our team will handle the process of purchasing, slaughtering, and distributing the meat on your behalf.

Aqiqah is not obligatory but is a highly recommended Sunnah. It brings blessings to the child and family and allows for charitable giving to the community.

When is the best time to give Aqiqah?

On the seventh day after a baby’s birth, an Aqiqah is performed. However, there’s nothing stopping you from doing it later.

The sacrifice is usually performed by an adult male in accordance with Sharia (halal) meat guidelines. The animal(s) must be in good health, meet the minimum age requirements for slaughter, and not be slaughtered in the presence of other animals.

Two animals are sacrificed for the sake of a baby boy. One animal is sacrificed for the sake of a baby girl.

The sacrifice is then divided among the members of the family who are performing it. It is then distributed to the poor and in need. A party is frequently thrown for family and friends to celebrate and share the meat.

“Every baby is held in pledge up to his aqiqah. So, on his seventh day, sacrifice should be made on his behalf, his head should be shaved, and he should be given a name.”

Description

Description

In the border town of Arsal, Lebanon, situated in the hills above the Bekaa Valley, around 60,000 Syrian refugees live in scattered, mostly makeshift tented settlements amidst a local Lebanese population of 35,000. A recent survey revealed that approximately 230 children, aged between 5 and 12, are being cared for by relatives other than their parents, or by unrelated guardians.

Many of these children endure extremely challenging conditions. Issues such as lack of school attendance, inadequate supervision, and child labour are widespread. This project focuses on supporting children in such difficult circumstances, including those who are victims of more severe forms of abuse.

Evaluate and identify the specific needs of these vulnerable children, with a focus on determining which children are in the greatest need of rehabilitation.

Foster social development by promoting interpersonal relationships through play, sports, literacy initiatives, and building self-esteem, alongside teaching essential social and life skills to help them become responsible community members.

Tackle social issues such as child exploitation, drug abuse, and violence through targeted interventions.

Encourage wider action by sharing our experiences and promoting collaboration with other organisations to address the broader challenges facing the refugee community.

Education

Dar Al-Amal is currently teaching 231 students every week (aged 6-14 years)

  • 96 orphans (attend over 4 days)
  • 125 Quran students (attend over 5 days)
  • 10 disability students

The centre provides teaching in secular studies (English/ IT/ maths) aswell as arabic language and Quran studies. Students are also taught the importance of hygiene and benefit from daily/ weekly facilities such as hot meals, hair cutting, clean clothes and washing facilities to ensure they are in a good state to learn.

The Respite Centre will provide a safe, fully supervised environment where children can access essential services such as:

  • Educational facilities to promote learning and personal development.
  • Psychological and medical care to address trauma and physical health needs.
  • Social interaction, play, and sports activities to enhance well-being and community integration.
  • Hygiene services, including bathing and clothes-washing facilities.
  • Nutritious lunches to ensure the children receive at least one healthy meal per day.
  • Transport services to safely bring children to and from the centre.

Our Dedicated Team

The centre will be staffed by three teachers and a management team, supported by specialists as needed. We are committed to employing individuals from within the refugee community, utilising their skills and providing much-needed employment opportunities back to the community.

Facilities and Premises

We have identified suitable premises for the Respite Centre, which will be rented on an ongoing basis to ensure a stable and secure environment for the children.
