If you deliberately broke a Ramadan fast, Kaffarah is required. For Ramadan 2026 in the UK, the amount is £300 for each fast. This payment feeds 60 people in need.

If you break an oath, you must donate £30 to feed 10 needy people for 1 day

Paying Kaffarah for Ramadan 2026 Broken Fasts

Kaffarah applies when a Ramadan fast is deliberately broken without a valid Islamic excuse. This includes eating, drinking, or marital relations during daylight hours by choice. Intent is the deciding factor.

The Kaffarah amount for Ramadan 2026 in the UK is £300 per fast. This fulfils the requirement of feeding 60 poor people. Food is provided as meals or essential food packs so each person benefits directly.

Kaffarah can be paid for fasts broken in previous Ramadans as well. The obligation does not expire. If you broke a fast in an earlier year and have not paid, you must still fulfil it.

Each fast is counted separately. One deliberately broken fast equals one Kaffarah payment. Two fasts equal £600. There is no combined or reduced rate. Accuracy matters.

Kaffarah does not apply to fasts missed due to illness, travel, pregnancy, breastfeeding, old age, forgetfulness, or coercion. In those cases, you either make up the fast later or pay Fidyah if fasting is not possible.

Paying Kaffarah before or during Ramadan 2026 brings clarity. It removes the burden and ensures food reaches people who rely on this support during the blessed month.

Fulfilling Kaffarah turns a serious mistake into meaningful relief for others. Your duty is completed. Others are fed.

      FAQ's

FAQs that cover the most common questions about donating to this project

Does deliberately missing a fast require Kaffarah?

No. Most scholars state that Kaffarah applies to deliberately breaking a fast, not deliberately missing it. Making up the fast and repentance are required.

What is the difference between missing and breaking a fast?

Breaking a fast means invalidating an active fast. Missing a fast means not fasting at all from the start of the day.

Do I still need to make up a deliberately missed fast?

Yes. You must make up each deliberately missed fast.

Does Kaffarah ever apply to missed fasts?

Kaffarah applies only when a fast was started and then deliberately broken.

What if I missed the fast for a valid reason?

If the reason was valid, you make up the fast later. Kaffarah does not apply.

Should I pay Fidyah for a missed fast?

Fidyah applies only when fasting is permanently impossible. Otherwise, you must make up the fast.
